Collision Center 1 offers the state-approved 55+ Driver Discount Program through the Precision Driving Center of Minnesota at St. Cloud State University. Completing one 4-hour class every three years can qualify you for a 10% auto insurance discount. Classes fill fast, in person and on Zoom.

Attend 4 hours
Since July 2024, first-time and refresher classes are both just 4 hours.

Get your discount
Give your certificate to your insurance agent to save 10%. Retake the class every 3 years to keep it.

Collision Center 1’s classes are led by Kelli Friese, a certified instructor for 16 years with the Precision Driving Center of Minnesota Driver Discount Program at St. Cloud State University and a member of its Advisory Board. With 26 years at Collision Center 1, she uses the most up-to-date research on driver safety, new laws and vehicle technology, backed by real insight from inside the collision repair industry.

55+ class questions
Who can take the class?
Minnesota drivers age 55 and older. Completing the class can qualify you for a 10% discount on your auto insurance.
Is the first class still 8 hours?
No. Since July 1, 2024, Minnesota requires a 4-hour class for both first-time and refresher students.
How much does it cost?
$24 per class, paid when you enroll through the Minnesota Safety Center. Some host cities sponsor free enrollment for their residents.
Can I take it online?
Yes. Live Zoom classes run throughout the year; they’re marked in the schedule above.
How often do I need to retake it?
Once every 3 years to keep your 10% discount.
