This is the story of how that standard was built.
In 1962, Floyd Stiele found a small building for rent in Hopkins, Minnesota. The shop was roughly 700 square feet. There was space for a couple of cars, a small office, and not much else. Floyd started repairing vehicles, built relationships with customers in the community, and grew the business one repair at a time.
Hopkins was a good fit. It had a small-town feel even though Minneapolis was close. Floyd built the business to match that character: local, accountable, and rooted in doing the work right.
Over time, his family became part of the business. His sons joined after military service. The shop grew. Hopkins Auto Body became a name the community knew. That’s how you build something that lasts.
By the early 1990s, the shop had outgrown its original building. Hopkins Auto Body moved into a 24,000-square-foot facility, still in Hopkins. That move changed the scale of the operation, but not the philosophy behind it.
Jerald Stiele, Floyd’s grandson, joined the business in 1996. He had grown up around the shop and came back to it after school. He stayed. Over time he took on more responsibility, learned the business from the inside, and eventually helped lead Hopkins Auto Body into what Collision Center 1 is today.
Jake Moser became Jerald’s partner and co-owner after years of building the Hopkins operation alongside him. Together, they have grown the company beyond Hopkins while holding to the same values it was built on.
Four locations. A team of experienced technicians. The same repair standard at every shop.
When Collision Center 1 adds a location, it is not acquiring a building. It is taking responsibility for a shop that already has a reputation, a team, and a community that trusts it.
Golden Valley came on in 2019. Prior Lake in 2022. Ed’s Collision in Maple Grove in 2023. Every one of those shops had something worth preserving: the people inside them, the customers who counted on them, the name the community knew.
Collision Center 1’s approach to growth is simple: strengthen what is already working. Keep strong teams. Respect the reputation the shop has already earned. Connect each location to shared values without erasing what made it trusted in the first place.
